At the United Medical Doctors Center for Pelvic Health, our multidisciplinary team works together to empower patients who are experiencing pelvic floor disorders, urinary leakage or urgency, and fecal (bowel) incontinence. Our Expert Team

Daniel Burgess, DO – A general and robotic surgeon designated “Surgeon of Excellence” in robotic surgery, Dr. Burgess brings advanced surgical options for hernia, wound care, and sacral neuromodulation for fecal incontinence.

Laura DeCesare, MD – A valued member of our team, Dr. DeCesare collaborates closely with the surgical and therapy team to ensure seamless, comprehensive pelvic health care.

Alyssa Ochoa, PT, DPT – Our in-house pelvic floor physical therapist. Dr. Ochoa earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of St. Augustine (2021) and specializes in women’s health and pelvic floor rehabilitation. She is passionate about empowering patients through movement, strength, and functional restoration.

Advanced Diagnostic & Treatment Services

• Anal Manometry in-office: Our surgical team measures anorectal pressures, rectal sensation, and coordination of the pelvic floor muscles so we can precisely diagnose dysfunction and target therapy.
• In-House Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy: Under Dr. Ochoa’s direction, our dedicated pelvic floor rehab program integrates manual techniques, biofeedback, therapeutic exercises, and behavioral training — right here on site, optimizing convenience and coordination among providers.
• Sacral Nerve Stimulation (SNS) using the Axonics device: Dr. Burgess offers this advanced neuromodulation therapy for patients with fecal incontinence or urinary over-activity/urgency who have not achieved results with more conservative treatments.

Clinical evidence supports the durability and safety of SNS:

• In the ARTISAN-SNM trial of the Axonics system, approximately 89% of participants achieved clinically meaningful improvement in urinary urgency incontinence at 1 year.
• At 2 years, in that study, 93% of implanted patients had ≥50% reduction in UUI symptoms and quality-of-life improved markedly.
• A review of SNS for fecal incontinence showed that ~79% of patients achieved ≥50% reduction in episodes in the short term, and ~84% did so long term (>36 months) when fully implanted.
