Dr. Schultzel and Dr. Burgess offer an internship to premedical, pre-PA, and pre-health (nursing) students. The interns have the opportunity to:
- Shadow the surgeons and physician assistants in both the office and operating room setting
- Work in the clinic taking vitals, rooming patients, and assisting in procedures
- Working with the medical students and physician assistant students in the clinic to get a glimpse of their future schooling
- Earn the opportunity for strong letters of recommendation
So far the program has graduated 25 students since 2020 whom have gotten into medical school with a near 100% matriculation rate for our interns. We are proud to "pay it forward" and help the next generation of medical professionals reach their goals.
The sites for internship are our La Jolla, Encinitas, and Murrieta office locations.
